Melissa L. Miller- SKY Art Gallery celebrates the opening of a new show, Abandon, featuring paintings by Chapel Hill artist, Melissa L. Miller during the month of December. An opening reception and opportunity to meet the artist will take place on Friday, December 1st from 6-8 p.m. The public is welcome. Complimentary wine and hors-d'oeuvres will be served. Ms. Miller's works have shown to much acclaim in galleries and juried exhibitions across the state of North Carolina. This is her first showing in the Sandhills. Working with acrylics, Miller creates landscapes with an inherently southern flavor. Kudzu, abandoned farmhouses, open fields and mysterious evening skies figure prominently. Rich in color and texture, her paintings invite the viewer to experience a love of place and the impact of a moment. She says, “I am a southern painter. I love this land, it's people, it's sundowns, and it's sunrises. I love the way the telephone lines carry drawn out words into the crimson skies, draping pole to pole down an endless single lane road. This place sings to my heart and soul.
